This just goes to show geeks can rap too
(if your unfamiliar with Sonic the Hedgehog, the sample is from Marble Zone in Sonic 1). Contains strong language.
Sega collectables
by Kyle on Jun.13, 2009, under General
As you can see from the image below; I’ve bought Lemmings + Gods for the Sega Mega Drive; 2 great games I used to play to death back in the 90’s.
I’ve also bought an asian copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (bargain price too); which is soon to arrive via air-mail (seller’s photo can be seen below).
More importantly though; I’ve got my eyes on a mint condition immaculate Sega Mega Drive 2 (jap) for an unbelievable price. The only thing stopping me is the fact that it appears to good to be true.. I’m aware of all the region issues and cart sizes etc; just feel that this would fit in nicely with my Sega collection (see the seller’s photos below).

Off topic (slightly); but if anyone happens to have a Sega Saturn for sale (be it modded, or otherwise) – please let me know. This console is currently on my ‘Most Wanted’ list
One last thing – have you ever ripped a Mega Drive cart out of the console whilst it’s running? Well; I did (on a spare Sonic 1 cart, lucky it was a spare as it now no longer works) – and here is the result;
No real purpose but was just curious. I’m also suprised it died after having been pulled; as there’s plenty of videos on YouTube of people ripping out carts repeatidly and the cartridge clearly survives… quite odd really.
Anywho; my hunt for Sega collectables continues… don’t forget to check out the End Of Year 2 University BBQ photos over at Flickr
(for those who no longer have Facebook, *cough*)

P.S – Anyone willing to donate games is welcome too (long shot but hey, you never know, AVGN get’s them.. why not me haha – hell; I’ll even start doing game reviews like him if you wish to donate
)
P.P.S – Why do I always think of more to add after having written an entry.. meh! I managed to get all the achievements for Sonic 3 on XBLA within an hour >_> – money well spent though ^_^.

Sega, Summer of Sonic and jDownloader.
by Kyle on Jun.11, 2009, under General
Hey everyone, a more pleasant post this time opposed to the previous one – with some great news (for myself, maybe others?).

Sega has released Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for Xbox Live Arcade. I already own the game in MANY different shapes and forms but I’ll be picking this up purely for the achievements (yes, sad I know). The download weighs in at 19mb (why? rom = <2mb + emu = 17mb???) and will set you back 400 Microsoft Points. This game will always have a place in my heart and could probably be classed as my no.1 game of all time; PROVIDING it’s “locked-on” to Sonic & Knuckles. This has been a requested feature in many of the re-releases (most annoyingly; Ultimate Collection on the 360), but has been left ignored. Now it has been made clear why; their planning to release Sonic 3 + Sonic & Knuckles as seperate XBLA games and will provide lock-on if you purchase them both seperately. Who’d of thought eh?
Being a Sega and Sonic nut, I’ll be a sucker and go for it no doubt. If you’re still skeptical; there’s a demo of the game on XBLA that you can try; unsure of PSN (seriously, who owns a PS3 nowadays?). You can find the XBLA Sonic 3 page here.

Summer of Sonic has been announced (well, kind of). I didn’t make it to last years and was kicking myself because of it. I will be there this year for sure; hoping that there’ll be some unexpected surprises like last year (live performances of Sonic-R soundtrack = win). The date has been set; “August 29th 2009″ – although the location won’t be confirmed until the 15th; so keep an eye out over at SummerOfSonic.com (it’ll be in London, that’s for sure).
One other little thing I discovered last night was jDownloader. If your using a lot of websites like RapidShare, MegaUpload, HotFile etc; this is the ultimate tool for you. The application detects c&p links (be it 1 or a 100) and automatically imports them into the program and groups them accordingly. It can detect, decode and enter captcha codes automatically too. It’s basically an automated downloader. Rather than having to check back when your usage can continue (15 minutes for RapidShare for free users); the application keeps time and will start downloading as soon as possible; all whilst you leave it running in the background. Pretty nifty, I must say. You can check out the jDownloader website here. But remember, winners don’t do warez.
In other news; Geoff has posted on the Pure Pwnage forums, and has helped explain the situation a little better. I don’t think the PP crew has ever been this active
– he’s not outright denying he’ll still play the part of ‘Kyle’ in the show; but he’s no longer working in editing/production.
Anyhow; keep checking back to KyleWhite.net, as I hope to post up a little “experiment” fairly soon.
Ttyl!

Downfalls
by Kyle on Jun.06, 2009, under General
Recently; I’ve been plagued with bad news. The following points may seem like ‘nothing’ to some people; although adding them altogether it really has got my mind ticking and wondering about life in general. As many of you may know, I’ve recently come out of a relationship with my now ex-fiancée (I don’t have to go into any detail; you all know the score). This would probably be one of the most difficult and painful things I’ve experienced in my life to date. It has had a huge negative impact on me in many ways; too many to mention as a matter of fact. I would just like to thank everyone who has supported me during this time; and helping me pick up the pieces after such a surprising and horrific turn of events. I dread to think what the hell I’ll be like if something was to ever happen to my family; the thought of it is terrifying to say the least. My family have always been there for me and I can’t imagine life without them; let’s hope they perfect the ‘heads in jars’ technique (Futurama anyone?) within the next few years, eh?
Not long after that there’s been a large amount of difficulties in relation to University. We’ve had a lot of difficulties with our Operating Systems module throughout the past semester. We’ve had 3 lecturers in total; and approximately 3 (and that’s being generous) ACTUAL lectures in the space of 15 weeks. Being taught by three different lecturers is difficult enough; not to mention the odd absences and inadequacy of the first lecturer. The exam took place for Operating Systems 1 week ago on Friday; and I have to say – I’ve never felt so lousy after leaving an examination room. I was barely able to answer 1 question; I felt completely and utterly clueless. It was like taking your driving test after being shown how to start a car and that’s about it. Luckily; looking around the room I noticed that many other people were in the same boat. I was not alone. Turns out that the ‘research & revision material’ we were given (60 pages) was hardly relevant to the exam paper; nor was the past paper of 2008. This was a big throw off to many; and I doubt that many people will reach the bare minimum grade in order to pass the exam. Sure; the grades could theoretically be bumped up by a good grade in the written assessment; but still – why should we have to let our exam grades suffer due to difficulties with University staff? We’re paying to attend; we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our grades and be expected to just ‘forget about it’. All in all; the whole module was a joke – and I’m hoping that complaints have been put forth to the examination board as previously stated. Roll on June 24th; results day is going to be one to remember.
Another downer is the fact that we’ve recently discovered my cat is now totally blind. He’s 14 years of age and over the past few weeks has gradually become more ab-normal and unpredictable. We’ve found he’s been walking into things and completely unaware of where he actually is. This is very depressing as we’ve had the cat for so long and he is loved by us all. What worries me the most is the fact that he is wandering around the garden; nearby the pond. If nobody is around to watch him; what’s to say he may walk straight in? He’d be helpless. Again – this thought frightens the hell out of me.
Onto not so serious developments but still ‘negative’ news regardless; Jarett Cale from Pure Pwnage has posted a thread over at the PP forums discussing the state of Pure Pwnage. Long story short; Jarett has overworked himself by FAR. Geoff wishes to no longer edit PP or star within it; although will continue to produce the musical score. The game is still in development; as well as ‘Project X’. Episode 19 now has no release date; which I am glad to hear in a way. I feel that the PP crew should take as long as they need and continue to take regular breaks in order to prevent such illness occuring in the future (for more details; read the full post here.) It’s highly unlikely that Pure Pwnage will still produce 3 seasons and a movie; although this could be wrong. Personally; I feel there will be two more episodes. The next will be a sudden drastic change; which many people will dislike – and the episode following it will be the Pure Pwnage Finale. I hate to say that; but judging how almost everything is against Jarett at this time (apart from the uber-community & fan-base); it’ll probably be the most viable option for the PP crew.
Lastly; Duke Nukem Forever. Yes; the game that’s been supposedly in development for approximately 12 years may have finally bit the dust. Currently in legal battles and such, the destiny of Duke Nukem Forever is looking pretty bleak. This is a shame; as recently footage has leaked out which lead to the impression that the game was shaping up to be quite impressive (not graphically as such; but gameplay wise). Again; you can never tell what will happen in this world – just have to take things as they come and hope for the best I guess.
Quite a depressing and lousy blog entry; I’ll admit. But after having read how open Jarett was in his Pure Pwnage “State” thread; I felt why the hell should I just keep everything that’s ticking around in my head concealled? Even if nobody reads / responds to this I’ll still feel better knowing I’ve opened things up and gotten some thoughts from my head into words.
I hope that all of you are well and are enjoying the Summer; hopefully the next post will be on more of a high than this one. Thank you for your patience (that is if you read this whole entry, not just skipped to this part..), comments, e-mails & alike. Nothing goes unappreciated.
-Kyle
P.S – Just to try and make this thread borderline non-suicidal; Rhys is currently working on the website for Ace Music Pool. You can check out the website in progress over at www.AceMusicPool.net. Shaping up to be quite impressive, I must say.
Been twiddling about with a new theme (as you can clearly see). Liking a lot about it; although a few things are irritating me which I just can’t put right. I’ll keep you posted though. Let me know what you guys think.
One other thing; I’ve re-activated my WoW subscription. Great way to escape from reality and enter a virtual world where there are no real-life issues/drama (in theory). The real world can really suck at times; and such forms of entertainment are there to get you through the hard times. If you wish to PM me/harass me in game; you can find me on the ‘The Venture Co’ EU Realm – with the character name ‘Esylum’. Hope to see you there.

Bits ‘n’ Bobs
by Kyle on May.24, 2009, under General
Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything worthwhile up due to difficult times and seen as my mind is deep in thought right now; I thought I’d make a “quick” blog entry for the hell of it.
Not too much to report really; 1 exam down so far – went OK but could’ve been better, “Legislative & Ethical Issues” really isn’t my area of expertise so it would appear. Two more to go; “E-Crime” and “Operating Systems”. Providing I get a bit of revision in throughout the next few days they shouldn’t be too bad (in theory).
I’ve found a neat piece of software called ‘TVCatchup’. What is basically does is allows you to watch the main channels which you’d get via Freeview on your computer. It’s all streamed live via your internet connection and is around 5-10 seconds off the satellite broadcast (i’ve checked). It’s currently in open beta (as is the Desktop player) – I highly suggest you check it out.
This weekend Team Fortress 2 is free for everybody. The Sniper / Spy update has been implemented and I’ve never seen the servers so excessively full! Follow the link and if you haven’t already sign up for a Steam account and get playing! I’ve lost my touch unfortunately – but I’m slowly getting back into the swing of it – I blame excessive time on Battlefield Heroes! If you fancy a game, please feel free to leave a message via the comments.

Britains Got Talent announced the 40 finalists today (well.. sort of, it all seemed a bit rushed). They didn’t actually show Sue Son being told ‘you’ve made it’.. I mean, I know she’s in the line up for tonights live show (via the announcement at the end) – but I didn’t see her at any point throughout the “ruling out” process… quite odd really! Anywho, I’ll definitely be voting for her thats for sure! Incase you missed her performance you can view it here.
I’ve been splashing some cash recently and have bought a few new things such as;
- Call of Duty: World at War [PC]
- Blues Brothers [DVD]
- Sky Blue [DVD]
- Ghost In The Shell 1 + 2 [DVD]
- Rambo Boxset [DVD]
- Rocky Boxset [DVD]
Although I haven’t got around to playing/watching any of them! I’ve not seen the Ghost in the Shell movies; and I’ve been meaning to check them out for quite some time so hopefully they’ll live up to the hype. I watched Hot Shots most recently; and although I’m not one to recognise the movies which it’s parodying (i’m useless, I know) I still found it hilarious. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer in their early days are just as funny as they are today. I’ll be sure to watch the Rambo boxset before watching Hot Shots: Part Deux.
One other film I saw on the shelf really caught my attention;

I know what your thinking (if your male/lesbian), ‘daaaaaaaaaamn‘. ‘Machine Girl’ has been rated as one of the most excessively “over-the-top” bloodthirsty films ever. I’ve yet to ‘acquire’ a ‘preview version’ of it – if it does turn out to be pretty impressive; I’ll be buying the DVD for sure.
Progress has been made on the ‘Jukebox Project’. Rhys was given an old CD based jukebox case and interior to ‘play with’. The result (after hours of hard work using 1 pence pieces to scrape paint off) is as follows;
Inside of the case now is an Intel Atom based PC (compact as hell) – capable of running a fully functional ‘electronic’-jukebox. All the lights and necessary equipment for it all to function have been purchased – it’s just down to the ‘touch-ups’ now. The project is on hiatus at the moment due to University examinations.
I’ve attempted to ‘clean’ my room too. My ‘Sega Corner’ has been born. After recently discovering Toy Army in Newport was still open; I plan to get ahold of more old consoles/memoribilia for my collection.
On a different note – Michael Jackson has pushed the gig back (the one which I’m going to) a whole year! It’s now been rescheduled for March 1st 2010! I’m really annoyed about that; as it means it’ll be one of the last shows (which may or may not even take place judging by his previous performance patterns).
Oh yeah – after the exams have ended I think I’ll be starting to play World of Warcraft again (/cheer). Got nothing to do now in the summer (no fiancee, no job, no life – sad face) so it’ll help pass the time that’s for sure!
Well – this was initially going to be a fairly short blog post but it’s turned into quite a lengthy one (half a standard assignment if the word count via WordPress is to be believed). Hope you guys are all well – noticed that the hunt is still going on for the IT Crowd Season 3 easter egg – hopefully after the exams I’ll be able to get more stuck in and see what is to be discovered.
Take it easy.

Wow. Just.. wow.
Update: If YouTube deletes the above video (which they will..) follow this official ITV link.
The Pirate Bay.. for the win?
by Kyle on Apr.21, 2009, under General
As you all already know; the Pirate Bay has recently been declared ‘guilty‘. Initially, it’d appear to many that The Pirate Bay has finally ‘lost the battle’. Although this isn’t the case (regardless of what you’ve heard in press announcements etc). This is only the first stage of the whole process; TPB crew are now appealing to take this dispute higher within the courts. From what I’ve read, appeals can take a minimum of six years. Looks like The Pirate Bay isn’t going anywhere soon!
As we should all know TPB doesn’t respond well to legal threats; and will fight to the very end for their rights. Good for them.
What do you guys think about the whole palava?
Behold; the porn industry [April Fools]
by Kyle on Apr.01, 2009, under General
Hey guys, got some shocking news to share with you all.
As you all know I’ve always had a passion for anything to do with video editing and video production. I chose not to take the related course at university (Video Production) as I felt I’d have to be exceptionally good at it in order to make a career out of it.
Today my prayers were answered. I recently started applying for jobs at local agencies; and I’ve heard back from a local video production company called ‘South Wales Adult Entertainment’ (my badge/logo below).
They basically liked the fact that in my CV I mentioned during my spare time I enjoy editing videos; and picked up on that. I couldn’t believe it at first; I’m still in state of shock. I’ve been hard at work today on my first full blown production; I’ve been in charge of video editing, audio mastering, DVD authoring and cover design. The near final cover can be seen below:
I’ve even been given the liberty to create a quick video tailer! You can stream it here or download it by clicking here.
To pre-order the DVD; click here. I don’t advocate piracy either, so don’t go downloading this off p2p / torrents!
I hope this doesn’t have an impact on my University work!
Regards,
Kyle
UPDATE: Due to overwhelming response to this announcement, I encourage anyone who’s interested in taking part in any future productions to contact me via the comment box on this blog post. Thanks!
UPDATE 2: Why did so many people fall for this and assume it was true? Just wait until next year
